Sky + land + story

The familiar, seen differently.

Oman At Night is a national initiative to discover, document and protect Oman's night sky. We bring its natural beauty and cultural and astronomical heritage into focus, creating lasting value for science, tourism, communities, the environment and the national economy.

Oman's sky is more than a view. It is a natural, scientific, cultural and economic resource worth documenting, protecting and developing.

A name with a wider horizon

Our name is inspired by The World at Night (TWAN), launched in 2007 to photograph the sky above natural and historic landmarks. TWAN connects art, science, culture and dark-sky protection. Its international recognition in 2009, events in more than 30 countries and over 5,000 images worldwide inform that inspiration.

The sky

Clear skies, celestial objects and astronomical events.

The land

Oman's mountains, deserts, coasts and heritage sites.

The story

Navigation, cultural astronomy and Omani memory.

WONDER, SHARED

Some nights stay with you.

Since 2009, our family astronomy camps have brought 200 people together at each camp. From first discoveries to specialist workshops, the night sky is a place to learn, connect and share a sense of wonder.

THE FUTURE OF OUR SKY

Less light. More wonder.

Light pollution hides the stars from our cities. Explore the difference between a bright city sky and Oman's dark sky, and see why protecting the night matters.

GUIDED BY THE STARS

Seven stars. One direction.

Arab sailors found their way by the seven stars of the Plough, known as Banat Na'sh. Today, they give shape to our seven pillars. Select a star to explore.
